TODAY’S RESTORATION OF $90 MILLION IN FUNDING TO HELP NEW YORKERS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES IS A “MAJOR VICTORY”

SENATOR MARCHIONE: TODAY’S RESTORATION OF $90 MILLION IN FUNDING TO HELP NEW YORKERS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES IS A “MAJOR VICTORY”

Statement from Senator Kathleen A. Marchione (R,C-Halfmoon)

“Our passage of legislation restoring $90 million to help New Yorkers with developmental disabilities is a major victory. I was pleased – and very proud – to vote in favor of this funding restoration during today’s Session because it will make a real difference in assisting individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The previous deep and painful cuts to the Office of People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) would have hurt countless individuals and their families, which is why I strongly opposed the OPWDD cuts and spoke against them on the Senate Floor. Today’s funding restoration is truly good news and I was honored to have been part of this important effort that put people ahead of politics, which is the way it should be.”
