Republican state Sen. Kathy Marchione stopped by a Wednesday-morning meeting of the Saratoga Springs City Center Authority’s board meeting to submit 2,454 petitions calling for the return of the annual August gun show.
“I don’t believe that this is a public safety issue at all,” said Marchione, who attributed the cancellation to Saratoga Springs politics — specifically Democratic Mayor Joanne Yepsen’s agenda. (Yepsen has said gun shows “no longer fit the vision” of what the City Center should host.) The lawmaker said the end of the show meant a loss of revenue for local businesses.
